I hope you all had a great day with your families today, and I hope nobody blows any fingers off with fireworks tonight. I played my first gig since March this morning, performing patriotic music at a retirement home. I got hit in the feels when we played the service medley and the veterans stood for their service song. Finished the day with grilling and patriotic music playing on the stereo.
And this is what I should be doing tonight. This was taken at last year’s Austin Symphony FoJ concert. Always a good time. Maybe next year.

Oh yeah that reminds me I would probably be playing a concert tonight too. We probably play that same ARMED FORCES SALUTE and ask the people to stand as you do.
After being ok’d by my SAAB mechanic we are driving the new (1998) convertible on our trip from Chicago out to PA. We’re staying in an Airbnb in Toledo OH tonight and there’s fireworks going off EVERYWHERE in the neighborhood. It’s almost as good as at home where we can see the official and very good local show from our back yard.

Happy 4th! Sounds like you had a pretty good day - mine was spend cleaning.
The sun went down just under an hour ago and it sounds like a damn warzone on my street right now.

Yeah, sounds like Baghdad 2003 here. More so than most years. Maybe because there’s no local official displays.
We did a fair amount on cleaning today too. Finally getting around to those projects we said we’d do when the quarantine started. Watching Hamilton right now. It’s good. Hadn’t seen it yet.

Same with the projects - put up a ceiling fan I ordered in March today...
I haven’t seen the musical yet either, it’s on the watch list this weekend for sure . Listened to the soundtrack though and quite enjoyed it.

Interesting, Tyzik was something of a household name when we lived in Rochester NY in the 90s. He founded and I believe still directs the RPO pops series. Used to give massed school choir holiday pops concerts; I think my sister sang in one.
Anyway, here’s our good ol ’ Bob Lowden arr from last year: (indoors because it rained I think)

Buying a dedicated smoker was a fabulous idea for us. Sure it takes between 4 and 16 hours to make something, but during the pandemic that works just fine!
